Episode 41: the podcast is turning 2 years old, we’ve reached 3,000(+) subscribers on YouTube and over 9,000 on Instagram- it’s time to celebrate! We’ve got a giveaway!! Wearing: a classic go-to, my Granny Isosceles Triangle Scarf! This is one of my own patterns which you can find free HERE or in my shops. It’s written for worsted weight but it is so, so simple to modify to any yarn weight or even any combination of yarns. A great stash buster, and also a great gift/market item!

DESIGNS:

The Cardigan- which is officially the Fields Cardigan – is now in testing through mid-November. I am hoping to have it finalized and out to ya’ll before Christmas. Make sure you’re following on instagram and subscribed to my mailing list if you want to be sure to not miss the pattern release!

Up next on my design schedule is my new Through the Rain Cowl. I am SO excited about this stitch and color combo. Testing call coming in a couple weeks!

We will also be chatting gift making,  what I did wrong on my beanie decreases (tell me! I’m stumped!) and I have a weird little tool that your sweaters will thank you for that I want to share. And socks. You know, typical podcasty stuff. 

FO’s:

I finished a birthday gift Seismic Beanie by White Owl Crochet Co. I followed it...roughly. I used a one of a kind skein I got at Knit New Haven during the shop hop (see shop tour here!) of Stonehedge Fiber Mill “Crazy” combined with a naturally dyed mini skein from Cup of Tea Yarns. I love both yarns but I am undecided on whether or not I love them as a hat?

WIPs:

And obviously, MORE socks. These are kind boring to look at and not a thrill to work, but I will be glad to have them to wear with boots as a more neutral, possibly more socially acceptable option. Paton’s Kroy in the colors Grey Marl and Flax (affiliate). Again, no pattern just working in a broken ribs which is knit one, purl one for a row, and then knit one the next row!

Aquirings:

My daughter and I were working on another craft project using some Wilton Food Dye (affiliate link) and obviously any colors left over needed to be added to some yarn. I let her over-dye a skein I had previously dyed with coffee (it was lighter than I had hoped) and she created a magical, swampy rainbow skein. Honestly, I am so impressed. She’s been carrying it around like a baby, putting it in her doll crib, and named the colorway “Baby Austin” after a family friend she adores.

Finally, I got my custom order of Fiber for the People in the colorway “Chili” on her non-superwash 4-ply base. I am going to be making another Fields Cardigan and have decided to nickname it as my ” Red Hot Chili Sweater.” Even though getting skeins dyed for you by a big dyer does take a bit, it’s definitely well worth the wait. And working with Tayler’s yarn is never a disappointment.

I also got this weird lil de-piller tool from Molly’s Suds. It naturally removes pills from “sweaters, blankets and upholstery” and is made out of recycled glass. Kinda an odd feeling tool, but it definitely does the job, and I imagine it will last a long while! Glad to be able to give some new life to tired looking sweaters. (And not to be salesy about it, as it not a directly crochet/yarn/knit related sight, but I ordered mine from Thrive Market and if you’ve ever pondered joining, I do have a referral code here!)
