Pattern Drop: Dandelion Dreams Baby Blanket

First pattern of 2020! This week I released a new baby blanket pattern called the Dandelion Dreams Baby Blanket. Its a super sweet and delicate blanket, perfect for gifting or making for the little loves in your life! And with an endless amount of color combos you can easily customize this blanket to any style or any nursery color scheme!

And baby blankets make great baby shower gifts (cause those cute little hats and sweaters get outgrown reaalll fast!) – this one has become one of my go to baby shower crocheted gifts!

It’s about “standard” for baby blanket size; it measures 30″ x 38″ when finished. It’s meant to be for a baby, obviously, but it would make the perfect snuggly blankey for any child in your life (even the fur babies?), or could even be used as a lap quilt to keep you cozy on the couch or comfy at the office! But for babies its just the right size to snuggle, play on the floor, or toss over a stroller or car seat for extra cozy!

The pattern calls for 4 colors of worsted weight/ category 4 yarn, . I used Big Twist Soft from Joann in Gold, Rose, Violet and Light Grey. It’s a 100% acrylic, but it’s very soft and baby friendly- plus its easy to care for! No new mom, especially one that isn’t used to dealing with fancy yarns- wants to be hand-washing and blocking blankets! If those colors aren’t for you, or maybe if you’re looking for something more muted, gender neutral or “boyish,” you could definitely get creative with the color combos. I love the versions my testers came up with!

The pattern is written in standard US terminology and used advanced beginner level knowlegde of crochet. The main stitch in the pattern is my own modified version of a traditional daisy or star crochet stitch. I call it the dandelion stitch! It looks all kinds of fancy, with those beautiful, full and fluff dandelions running across the rows, but don’t worry! The PDF includes a step-by-step photo tutorial on how to work the stitch, and there is also a link to a tutorial video specific to working this stitch!

Even if you aren’t interested in purchasing/making a Dandelion Dreams Baby Blanket, this stitch tutorial is available to everyone on my YouTube channel! It will quickly guide you through how I modify to create my dandelion stitch! (also it’s my first tutorial video, so go give it some love/feedback!!)

I also have a whole post walking you through how to work the dandelion stitch here on the blog, if you’d like to learn that way instead!

zoey aliza and the dandelion dreams baby blanket

For the months of January and February 2020 all proceeds from the blanket pattern sales will be going to the Kelley family for the medical costs of Zoey Aliza’s Miracle Journey. Zoey was born premature and has been ferociously battling many medical challenges since. If you’d like some more information on her story and my fundraising efforts, check out this pattern drop video! I tell you everything you need to know about the pattern itself, as well as info about the sweet little babe the sales will be going towards! (*all pictures and information shared with permission of my friend/Zoey’s mom Jeri Kelley!). Definitely consider following along on their go-fund-me page. Jeri posts updates on how Zoey doing, upcoming surgeries and medical procedures, and what the family needs! Even if you can’t donate, be keeping their family in your prayers!

So thank you in advance if you purchase this pattern during the fundraising period! I will be sure to update everyone on how much we raised for the Kelley family once February is over (be looking out for my March podcast episode!). I know they really appreciate all the support and prayer people have surrounded them with, and I am so glad to have this maker community be a part of that! You are the best!

If you purchase the pattern, I would love to see your Dandelion Dreams Baby Blanket! Make sure you’re following along with me on Instagram – @fiber.and.fox– & tag me in your finished pieces!
