As you’ve probably seen by now I’ve been asked to go ahead of the I-91 Shop Hop yarn crawl trail and film some shop tours and interviews with all of the 9 shops between New Haven, CT and Putney, VT! DESIGNS:

Real talk! I am having a rough time adjusting (even though it’s been since spring) to this napless toddler situation. That used to be my designing/math pocket and now…well, I’m mamaing all the live long day, and I’ve been vlog editing almost every night so…designing has been pushed back the last couple months. Which isn’t a complaint in the least. My daughter will always come before crochet and I am so blessed to be home with her, but I haven’t quite sorted the balance of designing again. My mustard yellow cardigan is still in the works…I’ll update you *hopefully* soon!

FOs:

First up, what I am wearing. Joji Locatelli’s Staple Linen Top out of the Fibra Natura Lina in Sterling (affiliate link) I got from my shop hop adventure to Ewe & You Fiber Arts. It came out a big more cropped than I was hoping, but I do love it as a summer…staple…and would even consider making another!

My next two WIPS both were already sent out as gifts to a couple of friends who had/are having babies.

The first was an orange cardigan I made up the pattern for (roughly based off of the adult cardigan design I am supposedly working on) a baby boy who snuck up on us a bit early. Kinda obsessed with the lil grandpa vibes on this one. The yarn is Berroco Comfort DK (a great, easy to care for gift yarn!) in Filibert, which I got on my visit to The Yarn Barn, and the buttons were from Knit New Haven’s adventure.

The second cardi is a slightly modified version of my go-to baby girl make, the Lace Cardigan by Mon Petit Violon using some yarn I already have left over in my stash and buttons from The Yarn Barn.

I also finished up pair of socks on our vacation last month made out of some whimsical Schoppel Ambiente yarn from my Marji’s Yarncrafts visit. The utter lack of a stripe repeat sequence is a tad chaotic, but hey, they are socks. Socks don’t have to match, right? The black is my good friend Paton’s Kroy Sock in Coal (affiliate link).

And for a WIP/Fo, I am almost finished with another pair of Kroy socks in the color Blue Stripe Ragg (affiliate link) with the heels and toes in some West Yorkshire Spinners Signature 4 Ply that I grabbed on my stop at HandKnits. And funny thing is, the color is definitely Cardamom from the Spice Collection…only my tag says “Cardoman.” So…*shrug*. Had a good laugh. I am going to work up a matching pair for my daughter once I finish!

WIPs:

Last Shop Hop WIP- my Mount Pleasant by Pip and Pin. I extended the length a little to make it less cropped- and so far I am loving this pattern. It’s definitely a beginner friendly way to jump into lace if you’re hesitant. The last is charted and written out fully, and is only like a 7 or 8 row, easy to memorize repeat. I am also adoring the the yarn from Urth Yarn’s Harvest Fingering line that is naturally dyed with Buckthorn! I snagged this one on my day at Northampton Wools.

Acquirings:

I wanted to share a brief review of this neck lamp from OUTXE (affiliate link). I got it at Knitty Natty’s recommendation and found it so helpful on vacation for knitting fireside- and helpful at home too when my husband insists that having lamps on creates to much glare on the TV. It has 3 easy touch brightness/color settings, is super light weight, and has a 60 hour battery life! And affordable for only $15! I’ve been using it for a month and have yet to charge it again- definitely recommend for travel and summery night knitting!

I guess this counts and something I acquired: my daughter and I dyed some yarn. The bar yarn itself was some mystery ply ends I picked up while I was at Green Mountain Spinnery for super cheap. We happened to be doing a dyeing project (just hot water, vinegar and Wilton food dye) on some wooden beans, and had a bunch of dye left over. So I skeined up a bit of the coned yarn and let her dump the left over dyes on it (more details in podcast). I was sort of expecting a swampy brown mess, but I have to say, I am SO impressed with how well this turned out. Proud fiber arts mama, right here! And she loves dyeing anything, so she found it to be a great activity!
