ADMIN:

Winner was announced for the giveaway from episode 42- did you win?!the podcast is turning 2 years old, we’ve reached 3,000(+) subscribers on YouTube and over 9,000 on Instagram- it’s time to celebrate! We’ve got a giveaway!! I have some lovely goodies from The Mountain Maker, Wool and Bark, and Out of Yarn. If you haven’t already entered in the podcast comments, don’t forget to do so.

What I’m Wearing: the Tegna by Caitlin Hunter, in “Seagull” and “Leather” by Fiber for the People yarns.

DESIGNS:

The Cardigan- which is officially the Fields Cardigan – is now in testing through mid-November. I am hoping to have it finalized and out to ya’ll before Christmas. Make sure you’re following on instagram and subscribed to my mailing list if you want to be sure to not miss the pattern release!

Up next on my design schedule is my new Through the Rain Cowl. I am SO excited about this stitch and color combo- and the fact this will be my first child and toddler sized pattern!

Finally, I got to work on my 2nd Fields Cardigan (in Fiber for the People in the colorway “Chili” on her non-superwash 4-ply base). I have decided to nickname it as my ” Red Hot Chili Sweater.” Even though getting skeins dyed for you by a big dyer does take a bit, it’s definitely well worth the wait. And working with Tayler’s yarn is never a disappointment. Hoping to get this finished in time for family Christmas photos! Gotta hustle!

FO’s:

It’s been birthday week over here and a whole lot of “daytime blue” has been going on. I finished the “daytimebluemamaowlprincessowl” shawl I was working on for my daughter’s dress up party. I used the Child’s Feather Wing Shawl by @craftyintentions to create my very best rendition of a blue owl princess… It was a labor of love, let me tell you. I used 2 colors of Stroll Gradient (“Ice Sculpture” and “Sea You Later”) held double for the feathers and Swish DK in “Artic” as the outline of the feathers. The button I got over the summer at Knit New Haven (tour here!)

I also went all #yarnpunk and hacked the sleeves of a jean jacket and created myself some sort of mama owl wings. No pattern and frankly I don’t recall what I did for numbers or anything. Just “winging it” on some wings, all in scrappy worsted weight acrylic bits I had on hand. & My sister in law let us borrow her Cricut to take our Mama Owl/Papa Owl looks to the next level.

And lastly on the birthday finished bits, I took the skein I shared last episode, dyed by my daughter and lovingly named “Baby Austin,” and turned it into a modified Tidal Fades Shawl. I added a mini from Laine and Lotus for some accent stripes and made up some tassels (tutorial here!)with beads (as per her request). I think it came out AMAZING.

Aquirings:

A couple weekends ago we visited the Fiber Festival of New England– vlog coming soon!!- and I picked up a few goodies. I got a self-striping skein from White Birch, a couple of cute finger puppets, some super lotiony lotions from the Rosefield. Vlog tour of the event coming soon!

That’s all the everything for this episode- make sure to check if you won the giveaway!– see you in episode 43!
