We did it! Thanks to everyone one you for getting me over the 1K mark on YouTube! The channel will be a year old this fall and I am super excited for how much it has grown in a year- here’s to another! This episode includes a huge giveaway to celebrate that milestone, so make sure you watch for all the details and are subscribed so you can be entered to win all yarny goodness! Here’s all the goodness for the Fiber & Fox Podcast Episode 17.

*note: Bella’s Custom Crochets is now FIBER & FOX!

DESIGNS:

The Forgotten Lore Shawl is all tested and is with my tech editor currently. I am hoping for a pattern release around Labor Day! Stay tuned for the upcoming pattern drop video and post for all the details on this fantastical, lace weight beauty.

FINISHED OBJECTS:

I completed and blocked and finally got pictures (oooffh it’s been hot!) of my Dove Dress Pattern Test for Hailey Bailey of @madebyhaileybailey. It’s super customizable to ANY (any!) size with lots of options for adjusting length and such to your liking. I did mine tunic length (no surprise: #tuniclife). I made it more oversized than I had initially intended, just based on my own faulty math and measuring, but I think it’s still super cute. Maybe it’s just me, but I am getting all the pirate queen vibes off this design, so as promised I broke out the sword for pics!

Oh and the yarn is Hobby Lobby Soft and Sleek DK in “Cedar”.

I finished off the second scrappy sock to “match” my #sockweek2020 sock. I am also going to enter the pair in @thecrazysocklady #summersockcamp2020 make along. I think I am completely obsessed with scrappy socks now. Although, I think next time I will try the method Marce of @heybrownberry uses to make her seamless, jogless and without sewing in ends!

Topaz Cardigan

I finished the cardigan out of my avocado dyed yarn (tutorial coming soon!). I *mostly* followed the pattern for the Topaz Cardigan by The Velvet Acorn. I love how Heidi typically does her patterns in similar crochet and knit versions: here’s the crochet version for this one if your interest.

WORKS IN PROGRESS:

A half finished object, with a side of WIP. Cause I’ve been obsessing over scrappy socks, I decided the baby lady needed a pair too. I didn’t exactly follow any patterns, but I did look at the Rye Light socks by @tincanknits and a Toddler Sock pattern by @purlsoho as well (both are free patterns!) to get some numbers and measurements for a roughly 2 year old sized sock. I cast on 44 sts on a US size 1 needle, did 10 rows of 2×2 twisted rib for the cuff and switched to 3×1 ribbing on the rest of the sock. Alternated 10 rows of a scrap color with 5 rows of the pink left over from the cardigan throughout. 40 rows for the leg, a slip stitch heel, heel flat and gusset. After the gusset I decided that I wanted the foot to be 48 sts instead of 44…and then a “normal” toe (I never know what it’s called!)

For my last work in progress, I’m wrestling with an upcoming fall/winter design idea with these wooly little minis from Maruma Yarns. I have a herringbone, marled cowl idea in mind and I’m having a bit of trouble translating it from my lofty vision into a reality. I can’t decide if I love the marl+herringbone or if I hate it. But I keep hearing Stephen West whispering “more is more” and urging me to marl all the things always. But like, imagining it. Stephen and I don’t talk… so, anyway, stay tuned.

1K GIVEAWAY:

I am so grateful to all of you who have subscribed over on the youtube channel and I am so grateful to each of the sponsors who donated to this awesome prize package! One winner will be getting all these goodies, so make sure you pop over and watch the video for instructions on how to enter!

Thanks to Lakisher of Sassy Black Yarns for the lovely purple skein of fingering weight (called “Monday’s Attitude”). Erin of Cup of Tea Yarn for the naturally dyed (!!!) skein on her high twist sock base (called “Sad Songs”- I love how both yarns have a major 2020 vibe with the names!). Robin of Within Creative for the darling notion (or whatever you want it to be!) pouch. And Sarah of Block21Prints for the awesome stickers! I also threw in a couple goodies from the Hob Lob too!
